Plesk: Install a certificate on your primary IP address

You can install an SSL certificate on the primary IP address on a Parallels Plesk Panel 10 or 11.0.9 server. However, we recommend installing it on an IP address other than the primary.

You can use these instructions to verify that your SSL certificate is correctly installed and assigned to the primary IP address. If you haven't installed your SSL certificate yet, see Plesk: Install a certificate for instructions.

If your server is set up for reseller accounts, you must take a few additional steps. Reseller accounts let your customers sell your hosting services to their own clients.

When you are finished making changes to your server, you must restart it.

To Verify Prior Installation of the SSL Certificate

  1. Log in to Parallels Plesk Panel as admin. For more information, see Log in to my server.
  2. From the menu on the left, select Subscriptions.
  3. For the subscription with the SSL certificate installed, click Open in Control Panel.
  4. Go to the Websites & Domains tab, and then click the domain name at the bottom of the page.
  5. Make sure Enable SSL support is selected, and then select your SSL certificate from the menu.
  6. Click OK.

To Restart Your Web Server

  1. In Parallels Plesk Panel, from the menu on the left, click the Server.
  2. Click Service Management.
  3. If your server is running Linux, stop and start the Apache process. If your server is running Windows, stop and start the IIS service.

Note: Simply restarting Apache will not work. Stop the service and start it again to complete the installation.

If you purchased the SSL certificate from us, you can verify that it's installed correctly by Test your SSL's configuration. You can also verify installation by accessing your site at https://CoolExample.com (replace CoolExample with your domain name).
