Setting Up DNS with Your Parallels Plesk Panel 10 Server and Domain with Us

Parallels Plesk Panel automatically creates a zone file for any domain name you set up in Parallels Plesk Panel. If you have already set up a domain name in Parallels Plesk Panel, you can skip this step.

To Create a Zone File for Your Domain Name in Parallels Plesk Panel

1. Log in to Parallels Plesk Panel as an administrator.
2. In the Webspaces tab, click Add a webspace.
3. Complete the domain name form, and click OK.

Note: These changes to your dedicated server might take up to 24 hours to complete.

Once you set up a domain name and create a zone file in Parallels Plesk Panel, you need to create and register two domain hosts for your domain name. If your domain name is registered with us, you can complete this step in your account with us. If your domain name is registered with another company, you need to contact them for instructions regarding domain host registration.

see Change nameservers for my domains for instructions on creating domain hosts and using the IP address for your server (you can find the IP address for your server in your Dedicated or Virtual Private Server (VPS) manager or in Plesk).

Note: The two domain hosts you create can be used for other domain names hosted on your Virtual Private Server (VPS). You do not need to create new domain hosts for each of your domain names.

After creating your domain hosts, you must register them on your server.

To Register Your Domain Hosts in Parallels Plesk Panel

1. Log in to Parallels Plesk Panel as an administrator.
2. From the Hosting Services section, click Domains. (If you don't see this option please skip to step 4.)
3. Click Open in Control Panel to the right of the domain name you want to use.
4. From the Websites & Domains tab, click DNS Settings.
5. Using the Add Record button, add the following records, and then click OK after adding each one:

   Field	What to do...
   Record type	Select A.
   Domain Name	Enter the subdomain you used for your domain host. For example NS1.
   IP address	Enter your server's IP address.

   Field	What to do...
   Record type	Select A.
   Domain Name	Enter the subdomain you used for your domain host. For example NS2.
   IP address	Enter your server's IP address.

   Field	What to do...
   Record type	Select NS.
   Domain Name	Leave blank or enter the subdomain for your website
   IP address	Enter one of the subdomains you created for your domain host, along with your domain name. For example NS1.coolexample.com, where coolexample.com is your domain name.

   Field	What to do...
   Record type	Select NS.
   Domain Name	Leave blank or enter the subdomain for your website
   IP address	Enter one of the subdomains you created for your domain host, along with your domain name. For example NS2.coolexample.com, where coolexample.com is your domain name.

6. Click Update.
7. Restart the DNS service to ensure these changes take effect on your server. Click Go back to Server Administration Panel .
8. From the Server Management section, click Tools & Settings.
9. Click Services Management.
10. Click the yellow refresh button on the far right of the DNS Server (BIND) service. Allow up to a few minutes for the service to restart.

    Note: DNS can take 24-48 hours to propagate.

Now that you have created and registered two domain hosts, you need to set the nameservers for your domain name to point to your Dedicated/Virtual Private Server (VPS). see Change nameservers for my domains, choose I have specific nameservers for my domains, and enter the names of the domain hosts you created in the previous step.
