About .br Domains
The .br country-code top-level domain name (ccTLD) is an extension that represents Brazil. The information below also applies to the following country-code second-level domain names (ccSLDs):
- .com.br — Intended for commercial entities
- .net.br — Intended for network infrastructures, such as Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
Note: These domain names can have up to 26 characters, with a minimum of three characters, and can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and hyphens (except as the first or last characters of the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters such as & and #.

1 Registrations restrictions
Note: You must have a Brazilian Tax ID (CNPJ / CPF) to register a .br domain.
Note: It can take up to 5 days for .br domains to be registered.
Important information for Brazilian residents who already own a .br domain (.com.br, .net.br, etc.)
The Brazilian registry assigns the registrar of the first .com.br or .net.br domain you purchased as your default registrar (they associate your CNPJ/CPF ID with that registrar). Hence, it expects subsequent domain registrations to also come from the same registrar.
Given this constraint, you can choose to associate your CNPJ/CPF ID with HostingDude.com, and then continue with your purchase.
2 Renewal restrictions
Your .br domain name renews before its expiration date. The renewal date depends on whether you set the domain name to auto-renew or manually renew. We attempt auto-renewal on day one of the month prior to the domain name's expiration date. If the renewal attempt fails, we re-attempt renewal 10 days later. If that attempt fails, we make a final attempt 10 days later.
For example: Your .com.br domain name expires on October 10. If your domain name does not renew automatically, you can renew it manually by September 20. For automatic renewals, we attempt to renew the domain name on September 1, September 10, and September 20.
If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it by the 20th of the month prior to the expiration date, you can attempt to recover it, and there might be a fee to do so. see Recovering expired domain names for information.
3 Nameserver requirements
All .br domain names must have two authoritative nameservers. Before you register or modify the domain name, you must list only those nameservers in its zone file.
If you want to register a .br domain name with us and use our nameservers, we handle this process for you.
If you want to use your own nameservers, you must set them up before you register or modify the domain name. You must also ensure that they are resolving properly before you assign them to the domain name in our system.
Note: To check to see that your DNS zone files are set up properly on the server before attempting to change NS, use the .br registry nameserver check tool. If they are not set up properly, your nameserver change will fail and revert to the previous valid pair. Google can help you translate responses if needed.
For example, if you want to register coolexample.com.br and use the nameservers ns1.coolexample.br and ns2.coolexample.br, then you must list those nameservers in the domain name's zone file.
After you set up your nameservers and register your domain name, use the instructions in Change nameservers for my domains to set the nameservers in our system.
4 Contact update requirements
You will have the ability to update the admin, tech, and billing contact of your domain name.Note: If you have already created an account at the Registry, the contact associated with your CNPJ/CPF (called the BR ORG contact) can only be updated at the Registry website. You should not update the Billing contact information as this will transfer the domain name to the Registry and you won't be able to manage it through your HostingDude.com account. 1API GmbH (aka Hexonet) is the partner we use in order to offer .DK domains. If you have accidentally transferred the domain away, please contact our customer support for further assistance.
For updates to the following fields, contact our support department for assistance:

You can update all other contact information in the Domain Manager. see Change domain contact information for information.
6 Expiration/redemption
If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it by the 20th of the month prior to the expiration date, you can attempt to recover it, and there might be a fee to do so. see Recovering expired domain names for information.
