Setting Default Nameservers for Your Reseller Customers

During a domain name purchase or transfer, your Reseller storefront customers must select the nameservers their domain names will point to. In your Reseller Control Center, you can set the default hosting and parked nameservers for your customers. You can also provide your own custom nameservers.

Note: If you use your own nameservers to host or park your customers' domain names, you are responsible for any zone file modifications.

To Set Default Nameservers for Your Reseller Customers

  1. Log in to the Reseller Control Center.
  2. Go to the Products & Pricing tab.
  3. Click Settings, and then go to the Nameservers tab.
  4. In the Nameservers section, select the default setting for your storefront:
    • Hosting nameserver — Select this option if you want to put your customers' domain names on hosting nameservers by default. (This option is best for customers hosting their domain names with you.)
    • Parked nameserver pages — Select this option if you want to put your customers' domain names on parked nameservers by default. (This option is best for customers who aren't hosting their domain names immediately.)
  5. For Hosting Nameservers, select one of the following options:
    • I want to use the default hosting nameservers — Select this option if you want to use our hosting nameservers for your customers' domain names.
    • I want to use my own hosting nameservers — Select this option if you want to use your own custom nameservers for your customers' domain names. Then, enter two or three nameservers in the following format: ns1.coolexample.com. Click Add Nameserver to add additional fields.

Note: You cannot select this option if your storefront offers our hosting products or top-level domain names (TLDs) that don't support custom nameservers.
