Fix Microsoft Word Formatting Problems

Copying and pasting content from a Microsoft Word document into Website Builder v6 may cause the content (HTML or just text) to display incorrectly. Here's how to avoid the problem — and fix it if a web page already contains improper formatting.

  1. Copy the content from your Microsoft Word document.
  2. Log in to your HostingDude.com account.
  3. In your Products list click Website Builder, and then click Manage next to the account you want to use.
  4. Click Design Your Pages.
  5. If necessary, from the Page menu, select the page you want to modify.
  6. Click the block where you want to paste Microsoft Word content.
  7. Position your cursor where you want to place content.
  8. If necessary, click More.
  9. Go to the Paste menu, and then select one of the following:
    • Paste from MS Word — Pastes content while preserving formatting, if possible.
    • Paste from MS Word, clear font — Pastes content while clearing the font you selected in Word.
  10. Enter your content in the content box, and then click Paste.

If improperly formatted content was pasted into a web page from Microsoft Word, you can fix it without repasting.

  1. Log in to your HostingDude.com account.
  2. In your Products list click Website Builder, and then click Manage next to the account you want to use.
  3. Click Design Your Pages.
  4. If necessary, from the Page menu, select the page you want to modify.
  5. Click the block where you want to clear Microsoft Word formatting.
  6. Use your cursor to highlight the content you copied from your Word document.
  7. If necessary, click More.
  8. Go to the Clear Formatting menu, and then select Clear MS Word formatting.
  9. The improper formatting is removed.
